Partner and Product Owner, Julian Vaupel, shares how Inside Labs is using Swell to disrupt tourism and empower both guests and destinations alike. They've built award-winning apps for Bike Kingdom, Europe's biggest mountain bike destination, and Mila, a digital holiday companion for Switzerland's Surselva region.
Tell us about the challenges you were facing before using Swell.
Julian Vaupel: Before using Swell we built all of our commerce in-house and were flexible in many ways. On the other hand, we always build on top, and at some point, we needed to reevaluate our commerce parts. This was especially applicable to improving reliability and scalability.
To scale up our software we need to rely on a partner who already solves many of the challenges inherent in a commerce system. They need to do this while allowing us the flexibility to build complex logic, on-top of the system.
Why did you decide to use Swell?
Swell was super responsive—we compared many other ecommerce platforms. We decided to use it because of the flexibility we have to build on top of it, as well as all the functionality it provides out of the box which we don't need to think about. The team's responsiveness for fixing, improving, and helping us out was a clear indicator that they are an awesome partner for us.
Swell is stable and open at the same time which empowers us to build the commerce logic we need to enable our clients to create great experiences within tourism.
We're enabling our clients to use Swell's dashboard to set up new products and manage customer groups, as well as our loyalty system, which leverages account credits.
Which upcoming features are you excited for?
On our end, we're excited to combine all different aspects of our software ecosystem together and connect with Swell.
For us, it's the connection between all the moving parts that we're excited about.
